5 FUN THINGS TO DO IN VEGAS IF YOU’RE UNDER 21

Las Vegas can be a tough city to visit when you’re under 21. You’re banned from drinking. You can’t step foot in most of the nightclubs you’ve heard so much about. And gambling? Forget about it. You can’t even so much as walk near a slot machine without getting the evil eye from security. But though it may seem like Vegas only cares about those with that coveted, 21-and-older ID, there are a handful bars and concert venues who regularly host “Teen Nights” for visitors and locals who aren’t of legal drinking age yet. If you’re in the Entertainment Capital of the World and you’re struggling to find some fun, under-21 entertainment, then this list is for you.

Here we present some good options to enjoy your walk through Las Vegas

HouseofBlues

Catch a concert at House of Blues

House of Blues is a large music hall and event venue at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino that features a rotating roster of bands and DJs, some of which are available for those 18 and over (check the venue’s calendar for upcoming shows). The House of Blues also offers Gospel Brunch on Sundays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. – which is open to people of all ages. You may be thinking, “I didn’t come to Vegas to go to church,” but give it chance. Sure, there’s traditional gospel music, but there’s also contemporary music, too. And there’s a lot of savory Southern food (the chicken and waffles are epic).

bowling

Bowl at the Brooklyn Bowl

The Brooklyn Bowl is more than just an 80,000-square-foot bowling alley; it’s also a concert venue, restaurant and hip hang out. Despite the images the word “bowling alley” may conjure up (i.e, grandpas in polyester, stale pizzas and 80s décor), Brooklyn Bowl is, in fact, cooler than you might think. With mood lighting, leather lounges and live music, the Brooklyn Bowl is more like a nightclub than a bowling alley. Those under 21 are welcome daily between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Brooklyn Bowl is located at the LINQ – a quirky restaurant and shopping plaza next to the Flamingo Resort and the High Roller Ferris Wheel.

Watch the bawdy show Absinthe

While Absinthe may be illegal for those 21 and under, the show Absinthe is not. The provocative, 18-and-older show is part circus, part vaudeville and part comedy act. It’s one of the most popular acts on the Strip, in part because the small, circus-tent venue offers an up-close-and-personal look at the show’s stunning acrobatics and trapeze acts.  A word of caution, however: Absinthe is an adult-only show for a reason. The jokes are Raunchy – with a capital R. But that’s also a big part of the show’s appeal.

Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum

While a museum may not be on your radar of fun Vegas activities, it should be. Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum is creepy as it is fascinating, and as authentic as haunted museums can get. The museum is housed inside a real-life haunted house – an 11,000-square-foot mansion that was built in 1938 in downtown Las Vegas. The mansion’s 30 rooms house a number of the world’s most haunted artifacts. If Zak Bagans’ name sounds familiar, it’s because you may have seen him on Ghost Adventures, the hit paranormal investigation show on the Travel Channel.

Stoney’s Rockin’ Country

Stoney’s Rockin’ Country

Although Stoney’s Rockin’ Country is normally a 21-and-older bar, on Fridays the club is open to those 18 and older. This 20,000-square-foot dance hall is the most popular country line dancing club in Las Vegas, and it’s also fun even if you aren’t a fan of line dancing or country music. The club features live music (some country, some rock, some Top 40s), free line dancing lessons at 7:30 p.m. and unlimited mechanical bull rides.
